A Winter’s Tune
arrives this year on
December 2, 2023
Saturday evening 7-8:30
at Fountain Street Church

“A Winter’s Tune” (AWT ) – the songwriter concert of “NEW + Traditional Songs for the Winter Holiday Season” – will be re-rebooted at Fountain Street Church (24 Fountain St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) in the main sanctuary, Saturday, December 2, 2023.

At the heart of AWT is a songwriter-in-the-round style show where 6 songwriters, in two groups of three, take turns doing a wide variety of songs considering and celebrating the season of winter and it’s holidays

Each songwriter will perform:
• 1 NEW winter/holiday/seasonal ORIGINAL and
• 1 “TRADITIONAL” song, from the public domain, “traditionally sung” during the winter or holiday season.

Original songs may be “about Christmas” (though they might not be) – any aspect of the winter holiday season is “fair game” (including Thanksgiving or New Year’s Day, or “hunting season” (for sustenance, trees or gifts, etc.)

One of the best parts of the AWT experience are the serendipity and surprises as our Michigan writers unwrap a new song or join together in a spontaneous performance.

We’ll close the evening in the spirit of the collaboration with a group-sing of holiday favorites. Your voice is needed to “swell the throng” and excite the reverberant cathedral space (where everything and everyone sounds grand).

Join in at the magnificent sanctuary at Fountain Street Church for this years “A Winter’s Tune”.

“A Winter’s Tune” is a non-ticketed community event open to the public. Admission is free – donations graciously accepted.

Donations will support future music and other creative events coming through Fountain Street.
